Just a girl with a passion for chai tea lattes (once described to me as “spicy milk”) who decided it was my mission to find the best one out there.

Farmers Union Coffee Roasters

Farmers Union Coffee Roasters- Eugene, Oregon

Rating: 8/10

One of my friends was visiting me for the day, so we decided to try a new place for both of us! Farmers Union Coffee Roasters is in a cool, trendy area, and it definitely gives off that same vibe. It is relaxed, and the inside of the shop is my idea aesthetic. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, so it’s a good place to come to work or socialize. The workers were very friendly and helpful. The food was really yummy, and the chai was pretty good. It was creamy and sweet, but I could definitely taste the nice spices that were put in it. Though I enjoyed the chai, it was a little spendy, and my favorite part might have been the bagel (oops). I would definitely go back though and spend some time in the area, walking around the nursery and vintage shops with my chai!

Broadway Coffeehouse

Broadway Coffeehouse- Salem, Oregon

Rating- 6/10

The place itself almost felt office-y or hospital-y, but it was also very cool. It’s a nice space to spend time doing work or with friends with a lot of space, chairs, and outdoor seating. The people working were very friendly and outgoing, which makes for a very welcoming environment. The chai itself wasn’t my favorite- it was a little bit watery, but my friend really enjoyed it. We ended up switching drinks, so I drank his mocha, which I really liked! It’s definitely a nice place to stop by for a cup of coffee and some chill time.

Coffee Plant Roaster

Coffee Plant Roaster- Eugene, Oregon

Rating: 8/10

Coffee Plant Roasters is a hidden gem in Eugene. It gives off a cool vibe that’s perfect for a coffee date, homework/ work, breakfast, etc. There are a lot of unique drinks and juices and friendly workers that were cool with me sitting and working there for hours. The chai itself was delicious and creamy; I really enjoyed it! The only real issue is that it’s kind of spendy, so it might not be a regular spot, but it’s great for an occasional splurge.

Dutch Brothers

Dutch Brothers- Sherwood, Oregon

Rating: 10/10

Dutch Brothers are everywhere in the Pacific Northwest, so it was only fitting that I went there for my first chai back in the states! It’s a drive thru chain with the best customer service- super friendly, outgoing workers that make the experience really fun. A lot of the drinks are a little too sweet for me, but there’s something about their chai lattes that I can’t get enough of. They’re sweet and creamy and delicious and I’m obsessed. It’s probably my favorite chai that I’ve had, and I just keep going back for more. This place and drink is definitely a staple in my (and a ton of people in the PNW) life, and I’d recommend if you ever visit the west coast! Plus, it’s always nice to get a pink straw ;).

Ravello

Ravello- London, England

Rating: 7/10

The chai was really good and so creamy! The location of the shop was perfect- within walking distance of Westminster, Big Ben, and Parliament. It’s a great place to go if you’re out and about in London, and it was even better because I was there with my boyfriend while he visited me across the pond (so maybe I’m biased). The only real setback to this place was that the people working weren’t overly friendly; they didn’t talk much and weren’t very receptive of any of our jokes (sad because the boy is hilarious).

6 Degrees

6 Degrees- Leicester, England

Rating: 8.5/10

This is definitely my favorite chai so far! It was nice and creamy and the flavor was delicious. It also had yummy, marshmallow-y foam on top that was so yummy! The food was also delicious! My Oregonian heart loves some avocado toast, and this did not disappoint! The eggs were perfect and the runny yolk was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The coffee house itself is also so cute! It has a chill, relaxed atmosphere, and everyone was so friendly. It was perfect for studying or meeting up with some friends and was so aesthetically pleasing. I was just disappointed because I went to study, but their wifi was down, but it’s definitely worth going back again for another try!

Costa

April 8, 2019

Costa- Faro, Portugal

Rating: 7/10

Though there are Costas all over Europe, this one just happened to be at the airport in Faro, Portugal, and since I had hours to kill before my flight back to England, I thought I would give it a shot. The chai itself was pretty good, although it might’ve been a little too sweet/ not creamy enough for my liking, but it did have some yummy foam at the top! The barista was also very friendly and the environment, although a bit loud because of its location in an airport, was very nice. My raggedy, disheveled, tired self was able to sit at a little airport coffee shop and just relax with a nice chai, and that was very nice. It definitely brightened and gave a bit of life to a long day.

Café Central

February 27, 2019

Café Central- Vienna, Austria

Rating: 7/10

Café Central is an absolute must if you are ever in Vienna! The building itself is beautiful and feels like a dream. With big beautiful windows, high arching ceilings, and food that looks too good to eat, it is a staple for tourists and locals alike. We tried the sachertorte (another Vienna staple) and it was yummy, but a very rich and a little dry— perfect to pair with a coffee or (our favorite) a chai tea latte! The chai had a ton of marshmallow-y foam and was pretty good. It wasn’t quite as creamy as I’d like and had a bit too much cinnamon and sweetness for my taste. It was also a little on the spendy side as well. But it is totally worth a visit, if only for the experience and aesthetic!

Kitty Café

February 16, 2019

Kitty Café- Nottingham, England

Rating: 9/10

This was literally a café with a bunch of cats (available to adopt!) roaming around, so I loved everything about it! I decided to get a little fancy and ordered a butterscotch chai and I was not disappointed. It was really yummy and creamy and sweet, but not too sweet. The food was good, not outstanding, but it hit the spot. The real seller here though is obviously all of the kitties! You could walk around the café and pet them and play with them! It was so much fun and such a cool experience! The only reason it’s not 11/10 is because we weren’t given a lot of time to eat. You reserve a spot for an hour and that’s your time, but we didn’t get our food until we were already there for 45 minutes, so that only left 15 minutes to eat. However, the bright side to that is that we had more time to play with the kitties! I’d definitely recommend; I’m already planning my next visit!

200 Degrees

February 13, 2019

200 Degrees- Leicester, England

Rating: 6/10

The chai itself was pretty good. Again, not quite as creamy and flavorful as I’d like, but still hit the spot. They also have a lot of other great options with some unique drinks like rose lemonade. What I really loved about this shop though was its ambiance. It was local, chill, and a cool place to come to study, meet with friends, read, go on a date, whatever. It was a place that anyone could come and feel welcome which is one of my favorite things to experience. This was only increased by great customer service by a friendly barista. I will definitely be heading back in the near future with a good book and some homework.

Caffé Nero

February 10, 2019

Caffé Nero- Leicester, England

Rating: 7/10

Caffé Nero is everywhere in England, so it made sense for this to be my first post while I study abroad here in Leicester! This specific location is right in the city center near the Highcross Mall. It’s so cute inside and provides a nice atmosphere for quiet reading or meeting up with friends. It reminds me of the artsy coffee shops that are so common in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, so it brought me comfort and peace to sit with my tea and read. The tea itself was okay, a little too sweet and not quite creamy enough for my taste. But, the foam on top was marshmallow-y and yummy, and it was a big mug for a decent price. I absolutely loved this shop, even if it wasn’t my favorite chai, so I would definitely go back and recommend.

Update: I went to the location at King’s Cross Station in London and they intentionally discriminated against my boyfriend and ignored his order. I decided to not go back because -38,940,020/10 for racism.
